GÖNÜLLÜ VILLAGE MILL NO. 2

The water mill no. 2 is located in the village of Gönüllü, which is within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province. Gönüllü village is located 42km southeast of Batman center and 12.80km northeast of Gercüş district center (Picture 1).

The entrance to the mill, which extends in the east-west direction and has a rectangular plan, is provided by a rectangular entrance from the south (Picture 2). The mill, which has a barrel vault inside and a flat roof on the outside, consists of a grinding room and a separate section to the west of this place. The grinding area has a rectangular plan. To the east of the place is the grinding area where the grinding stones are kept high. There is a crenellated window on the south wall of the grinding room, a niche and a hearth niche on the south of the window (Picture 3). The section to the west of the room has a rectangular plan. The western façade and part of the eastern wall of this section have collapsed (Picture 4). The water tower is located to the north of the mill. Water is carried to the water tower by a 3.00 m long and 0.50 m wide gutter (Picture 5). (Picture 6) There is natural and human destruction in the mill and tower, in which cut stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used.
