Illustrated Rock Shelter No. 3 is located 0.25 km southwest of Kumluca village, which is within the borders of Hasankeyf district of Batman province. Kumluca (Mirdese) village is located 21km southeast of Batman city centre, 13.55km west of Hasankeyf town centre. Pictured Rock Shelter No. 3 is located in the valley to the southwest of Mirdese Village.

The illustrated rock shelters that start in the south of the Tigris River are spread over a wide area. A total of five illustrated rock shelters were encountered in this large area. The depictions carved into the rocky area are mountain goats and human figures. The crustal gypsum, which is the type of rock that facilitates the engraving of figures in the rock shelter, also causes the incised figures to not be well preserved. All of the paintings are in danger of extinction, as the peeling of this crusty gypsum will continue naturally.
