WEST OF MIRDESE VALLEY ILLUSTRATED ROCK SHELTER NO. 2

X: 41.153596 Y:37.435108 Z: 520.04

The illustrated rock shelter is located in the south of the Tigris River, 0.40 km west of Kumluca (Mirdese) village within the borders of Hasankeyf district in Batman province. Kumluca village is located 21km southeast of Batman city centre, 13.55km west of Hasankeyf town centre.

The rock shelter floor collapsed as a result of tectonic movements, and the part where the pictures are depicted has undergone chemical weathering. The paintings were engraved on the karst crust. The peeling of the karst bark over time has increased the risk of the paintings being destroyed. Among the figures depicted, there are dense mountain goat figures and a circle motif.
