WEST OF MIRDESE VALLEY ILLUSTRATED ROCK SHELTER NO. 1

The illustrated rock shelter is located in the south of the Tigris River, 0.40 km west of Kumluca (Mirdese) village within the borders of Hasankeyf district in Batman province. Kumluca village is located 21km southeast of Batman city centre, 13.55km west of Hasankeyf town centre.
In the rock shelter, there are figures of mountain goats, horse-like animals with long bodies and tails made by scraping. There is wear on the figures due to the excessive deformation of the crusty gypsum rock on which the figures are located.
