The mound is located in the Ortaalan (Wazdê) hamlet, located 25.57km southeast of the Beşiri district of Batman province, 4km southwest of the Kurukavak (Hamdunan) village.

Since the Ortaalan village settlement was established on the mound with no clear boundaries, the cultural filling layer was renewed throughout the area, resulting in human destruction. A limited number of pottery sherds were observed on the top of the mound, and a large number of sherds on the slopes. Most of the potsherds found on the mound during the discovery are examples that do not reflect the periodical features very much, but date back to BC. Examples from the 2nd millennium and the Middle Ages are partially selected.
