GÖKTAŞ HAMLET MOSQUE

The mosque is located 550 m north of Göktaş hamlet within the borders of Doğanpazarı village of Beşiri district of Batman province. Doğanpazarı village is located 70 km southeast of Batman city center and 55 km southeast of Beşeri town centre.

The mosque is placed on a rectangular area close to square measuring 13.50m x 10.50m in east-west direction. The mosque consists of the sanctuary and the last congregation portico. The narthex portico has a rectangular plan with two chambers and round arches. With the door opening on the south wall of the narthex portico, it provides access to the sanctuary. The sanctuary is rectangular in plan, oriented east-west. There is a mihrab niche on the south wall of the sanctuary, and a hearth niche on the north wall. The mosque is barrel-vaulted from the inside and covered with a flat earthen roof from the outside. Block stone, roba stone, crushed stone and cas mortar were used as construction materials. The interior of the mosque was plastered with cas mortar, and its plasters were largely spilled. In general, there is natural and human damage.
