YAMANLAR VILLAGE CHURCH

The church is located in the center of Yamanlar village. Yamanlar village, which is within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province, is located 49km southeast of Batman center and 7km southeast of Gercüş county center.

The church, measuring 11.70m x 15.30m, has a rectangular plan in the east-west direction. The church consists of a place of worship, an atrium and a pastaforium (small rooms with sacred objects on the north and south sides of the apse in churches). The atrium has a rectangular plan and the entrance to the atrium is through a rectangular narthex. There is a cradle vaulted pastaforium cell to the east of the atrium. The cell is accessed through a round arched door. There are two rectangular niches with eyebrow arches on the eastern wall of the cell. On the south wall, there is a round arched niche; There is a crenellated window on the north wall. To the north of the atrium is a rectangular naos with a barrel vault. There are rectangular niches with pointed arches symmetrical to each other in the north and south of the naos. To the east of the naos there is a rectangular bema in the north-south direction. The apse niche has been largely destroyed. Neat cut stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used in the church structure, whose upper cover was almost completely destroyed.
