The cisterns are located in the hilly area to the northwest of the Kayalar (Barlatel) village of Gercüş district, Batman province. Kayalar village is located 70km southeast of Batman city center and 18km north of Gercüş district center.

In the inventory studies carried out in the hilly area, 3 cisterns were identified. Cisterns show different features. Some cisterns have narrow mouths, wide bodies and widening towards the bottom, while some cisterns show cylindrical body characteristics. The cisterns, which are open to destruction, are filled with soil and rubble stones. Cisterns exposed to destruction have lost their functions today and do not see any use.

The mouth diameter of the cistern 1 is 0.80m and its depth is 0.45m. Cistern 2 is located 10 m north of Cistern 1. The mouth diameter of the cistern is 0.75m and its depth is 1.10m. Cistern no. 3 is located 4m west of cistern no. 2. The mouth diameter of the cistern is 0.80m and its depth is 1.00m.
