YAYLADÜZÜ VILLAGE YUSUF TOPRAK HOUSE

The residence is located in the village of Yayladüzü, which is within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province. Yayladüzü village is located 30km south of Batman by bird flight and 23km northwest of Gercüş district center.

The building, which is terraced on the entrance floor on a rocky and sloping ground, is arranged as two floors in the "T" plan scheme. The building, which rises on a masonry stone wall, is supported by wooden beams and is covered with a flat earthen roof. The ground floor spaces of the building are barrel vaulted, while the upper floor spaces are supported by wooden beams and covered with a flat earthen roof. The connection between the floors is provided by the stone-stepped stairs in the courtyard (Picture 1) (Picture 2)

The entrance to the ground floor, which consists of two parts, is provided by two different door openings with round arches and rectangular forms on the south façade. Access to the eastern and northern parts of the ground floor, where the rooms and wet areas (kitchen, toilet, bathroom) are used as living areas, are provided by the main entrance door with a round arch, deepened inwards and vaulted.

The connection to the second floor, which is placed on the ground floor by staggering, is provided by stairs with stone steps located in the southwest of the ground floor (Picture 3). The second floor, which has a rectangular plan in east-west direction, is a single space and the terrace showing the "L" plan feature on the south and east facades of the space is arranged as the main living space (Picture 4). Smooth cut stone, rubble stone, soil and cas mortar were used in the construction of the house, which was largely destroyed.
