Around the Zeynel Bey Tomb, which is the symbol of Hasankeyf, a large complex was unearthed during the excavations carried out in 2004-2005 under the chairmanship of Prof.Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM.

On the slope extending northward from the caves in the east of the Lower City, a mosque-centered complex was unearthed during the 2004 excavations under the direction of  Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM.

The excavation of the complex, which consists of the Sultan Suleyman Mosque and the surrounding structures, located in the north-west of the area called the Central Excavation Site, in the middle of the Lower City, was carried out in 1985 by Prof. Dr. Oluş ARIK.

The structures in the area known as "Mardinike Mosque" among the people, located at the northeast end of the Lower City, were started to be excavated by Prof. Dr. Oluş ARIK, but after it was left unfinished, it was completed with the excavations carried out under the direction of Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM (Picture 1).
