The illustrated rock shelter is located in the area known locally as "Köyiçi", which is within the borders of Arık (Dera Ser) hamlet of Boğözü village of Gercüş district of Batman province. Bağözü village is located 81 km south of Batman city center and 22 km southwest of Gercüş district centre.

There is only 1 mountain goat figure made with scraping technique in the 15.00m wide, 3.00m deep, 2.00m high rock shelter that was formed naturally in the limestone rock. These figures, which were probably made more than once, have disappeared as a result of the physical and chemical dissolution of the rock structure, as a result of the rock crust being thrown away. The mountain goat figure in the shelter is also in danger of extinction.
