The illustrated rock shelter is located within the borders of the Arık (Dera Ser) hamlet of Bağözü village in the Gercüş district of Batman province, in a location known locally as Berha Bore Fileha. Bağözü village is located 81 km south of Batman city center and 22 km southwest of Gercüş district centre.
The figures were carved into the rock shelter naturally formed in the limestone rock. Among the depictions carved in an area of 5.00 m in east-west direction to the east of the shelter are mountain goat figures made with scraping technique. Some of these mountain goat figures are presented independently, while others are given as a herd. The figures were destroyed due to the rock structure. In recent times, they have been destroyed by passing over the figures with chalk and stones. The figures are in danger of extinction because they are in the open area.
