Kani Mara Höyük is located 7.5km northeast of Beşiri district in Batman province, just west of Kani Mara hamlet and on the south bank of Garzan Stream.

The mound was built on the conglomerate layer and has a very low elevation. Since the mound area is used as agricultural land today, its boundaries could not be determined exactly. There are large and small stone assemblages and ceramic pieces clustered in the mound area. There is a natural spring water known as Yılanlı Kaynak (Kani Mara) in the region just east of the mound.
