Rock residences are located on a rocky area 900 m east of the center of Sükeken (Şıkefta) village, which is within the borders of Batman city center. The village of Sukeken is located 22km southeast of Batman city centre.
During the studies carried out in the area, approximately 70 rock dwellings carved into the bedrock were identified. Today, 9 of the residences used as animal shelters and warehouses are single-spaced and 4 complex rock dwellings. Access to the residences is provided by rectangular entrances. Access to the entrances of some residences is provided by steps. The spaces of the houses are rectangular and square in plan. The destroyed facades of some of the rock houses are now covered with rubble stone and earthen mortar masonry.
While the complex rock houses consist of a front entrance room and a main space, one of them consists of two floors and a front entrance room and 5 spaces. In single-space residences, the entrances lead directly to the main space.
Inside the rock dwellings, there are hearth niches, window openings, animal feeders, animal mooring places, niches and cavities on the ground. All of the residences in the area are subject to natural and human damage.
