The mosque is located in Erdemli (Şeyhan) Neighborhood, which is within the borders of Sason district center of Batman province. Sason district is located 67km northeast of Batman city centre.

The mosque has a rectangular plan and its upper cover is vaulted from the inside. The stones, which are the architectural elements that make up the vault of the mosque, were built by leaning against each other vertically. Crushed stone and mud mortar were used as construction materials. The entrance to the mosque is probably through the opening in the western wall, which is now closed. There are 2 cabinet niches on the east wall of the mosque, 2 cabinet niches, one with a pointed arch, on the north wall, and a mihrab niche on the south wall. Since the interior of the mosque's sanctuary is filled with earth, the niches are partially visible. This mosque is known as the Sheikh Mahmut Mosque by the local people. The mosque is in ruins and abandoned today. Late period pottery fragments were observed during the studies carried out in the area.
