GÖKDERE HAMLET MOSQUE

The mosque is located in the Gökdere (Dozvane) hamlet of Geçit village, in the Gercüş district of Batman province. Geçit village is located 78 km southeast of Batman city center and 18 km northwest of Gercüş district center (Picture 1).

The mosque, which was built with a craftsmanship reflecting the general architecture of the region, was placed on an irregular rectangular floor (Picture 2). The entrance of the mosque faces north and is rectangular in shape with a stone lintel (Picture 3). From the entrance, you can pass to the harim, which has a rectangular plan. There is a round-arched mihrab niche on the south wall of the sanctuary, and a rectangular window opening with a stone lintel on the east wall (Picture 4). There is a crenellated window to the west of the mihrab. There are 2 crenellated windows on the east and west of the entrance, and the window on the west has been closed. The eastern window is rectangular in shape with a stone lintel. There are a total of 4 rectangular niches, 2 on the east wall of the sanctuary and 2 on the west wall. The interior of the mosque was plastered with cas. The mosque, which has a barrel vault, was built with concrete in the form of a flat roof (Picture 5). Cut stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used in the construction of the mosque.
