It is located in the south of the ancient road leading to the Hasankeyf Citadel, to the east of the Citadel. prof. Dr. Under the chairmanship of Abdüsselam ULUÇAM, the remains of buildings belonging to four different periods were unearthed during the excavations carried out in 2006 in the area known as Molla Halil or Şab Mosque among the people.
Since there is no flat ground in the rocky part of Hasankeyf, the I. Castle Gate and the vaulted cover system of the shops were deemed appropriate for a mosque with a large program in the valley, and a mosque was built on this ground during the Artuqid period. It was understood that a small mosque was added to the southeast end of the mosque during the Ottoman period, probably as a result of the destruction of the rocks falling from the top and falling on it, and the remaining debris was turned into a cemetery over time.
The Sâb Mosque consists of a harim, a narthex and a courtyard. The sanctuary, with a transverse rectangular plan, has a structure consisting of a single nave, probably covered with a barrel vault. It was built with rubble stone-weighted infill wall technique, and the interior was plastered with cas. It was determined that high quality, smooth cut stones were used in the monumental crown gate, other door and window jambs, and the altar.
While the narthex, which was arranged in the form of a portico, was kept at the same level as the harim, it was observed that the large courtyard in the north was at a lower level. The entire floor is covered with quality cut stone and there is a long rectangular pool in the courtyard.
