The church is located in the old Syriac neighborhood of Çukuryurt village. Çukuryurt village is located within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province. The village is located 45km southeast of Batman center and 9km northeast of Gercüş district center.
It is said that the building, located in the south of the courtyard measuring approximately 20.00m x 10.00m, was used as a church by the local people in the past. The north-south oriented building has a rectangular plan (Picture 1-2). In the single-nave, barrel-vaulted church, it is set a few steps higher than the apse nave. Access to the apse section is provided by a round arched opening (Picture 3). There is an entrance opening in the southwest of the building (Picture 4). There are small crenellated windows on the north and south walls. Its top cover is barrel-vaulted and the church was divided into sections in later periods. Today, it is used as a barn and warehouse.
