The church is located in the hamlet of Elagöz (Rişnik) of Sarıyayla village, which is within the borders of Sason district of Batman province. Elagoz hamlet is located 17 km northeast of Sason district. The church is located 0.3 km north of the Elagöz hamlet.

There is no inscription about the history of the church, which is called "Surp Keverk Church" by the local people. The church is placed on an uneven area measuring 8.50 m in the east-west direction and 4.50 m in the north-south direction. The church has a single nave and rectangular plan. The apse part is largely destroyed and has a half-round form. The narthex of the church is located in the south and has been damaged. The upper cover of the church is completely ruined today.

Block stone, rubble stone, brick and cas mortar were used as construction materials. The church is in ruins today and there is general destruction. There are cross motifs made with scraping technique on the rock masses in the rocky area about 50m east of the church.
