GERCUS CENTRAL PAVILION (KASR)

The pavilion is located on the northern slope of the mountain, south of Gercüş district center in Batman province. Gercüş district is located 60km southeast of Batman city centre.

Extending in an east-west direction, the pavilion was built in stages and has 2 floors. The entrance of the ground floor, which has a stone lintel and is kept high from the ground in rectangular form, faces north. The ground floor with a low vault consists of 2 spaces. These spaces are connected to each other by 2 round arched entrance openings. There is a rectangular window opening with a round arch on the west of the entrance. There is also a rectangular window opening on the west wall.

The 2nd floor is accessed via the staircase located to the west of the entrance. The entrance of this floor, which has a terrace, faces west and has a rectangular shaped feature with a stone lintel. The second floor, which is barrel vaulted, consists of a single rectangular space. The upper cover and walls of the 2nd floor have largely collapsed. There are 2 rectangular niches on the south wall of the room and a hearth niche between these niches. There are also 2 rectangular niches on the north wall, and a rectangular window opening with a stone lintel is placed between these niches. The interior of the mansion was plastered with cas mortar and its plasters were largely poured. Cut stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used in the construction of the mansion, and it was built in the form of a flat roof with earth. The mansion, which was not in use, was damaged.
