The residence is located in the village of Ulaş, which is within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province. Ulaş village is located 64km southeast of Batman city center and 18km east of Gercüş district center.

Located in the north of Ulaş village of Gercüş, the structure belonging to Mehmet Şerif Şimşek is in ruins and abandoned today. The lower floor of the building, which shows a two-storey arrangement, was used as a shelter for animals and a warehouse, while the upper floor was used as a living space. The section of the lower floor, which has three entrance openings from the south, and is entered through the opening in the west, has an east-west oriented rectangular plan and a vaulted plan. The spaces with the other two entrances on the south side form the platform in front of the entrance section of the upper floor and show a structure extending towards the south on the lower floor.

The main living area is reached from the platform, which is reached by an east-west oriented staircase in the south. This door of the upper floor, which has a round-arched entrance door on the south façade, is closed today and the entrance is provided with rectangular openings on both sides of it. The rectangular planned space in east-west direction, which is reached by the door on the eastern part of the south façade, is enlivened by round arched niches and two large window openings on the east wall. This place, which has a rectangular plan in the same way, has an entrance in the south direction from the outside and a staircase that provides a checkered exit next to the entrance. It was seen that the interior space was enlivened with two window openings in the south and west directions and round arched niches. The top of the building was built in the form of a flat roof with earth on wooden beams. Cut stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used in the construction of the house.
