BOĞAZ VILLAGE TOMB NO. 1

Tomb no. 1 is located in the southwest of the cemetery area to the east of Boğaz (Bagase) village, which is within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province. Boğaz (Bagase) village is located 32km southeast of Batman city center and 11km northwest of Gercüş district center.

The tomb no. 1 (Bubê Gulê) consists of two rectangular-planned spaces. The southern part of the tomb is in the form of a pointed dome, and the northern part is covered with a barrel vault (Picture 1). The northern space at the entrance of the tomb is rectangular in plan and covered with a barrel vault. There are two adult graves in the east of the place and a child grave in the west. The south area, where the main tomb structure is located, has a square plan and is covered with a dome. There is a mihrab niche on the south wall, a niche on the north wall, a pointed arch niche and a pointed arch window opening on the west wall of the room where an adult grave is located (Picture 2). The transitions to the dome are provided with pendentives (Picture 3), and there are window openings on the south and east walls of the dome.
