Pirtukan Castle is located in Tekevler (Gunde Nu) village within the borders of Sason district of Batman province. Tekevler village is located 3.7 km southwest of Sason district by bird flight. The castle, on the other hand, was built in a north-south direction on a steep rock at a height of 1529m above sea level, 1.2km southeast of Tekevler village.

The Sason region has served as a buffer zone between many civilizations (Assyrian-Urartian, Persian-Roman, Sassanid-Byzantine, Islamic armies-Armenian etc.) throughout history. However, although there is no inscription about the construction and history of the castle, Pirtukan Castle, which is called "Mile Kellê" in the region, took its name from the natural spring water located in the southwest and known as the Pirtukan fountain in the region. Pirtukan Castle has been completely destroyed today and there are no architectural remains from the castle. In addition, there are many stone piles on the surface of the castle area, which are thought to belong to architectural elements.
