The Virgin Mary Church is located on the plain on the slope of the mountain to the northeast of the village of Akçalı (Küsket) within the borders of Kozluk district of Batman province. Akçalı village is located 26.5km northeast of Koluk town centre.

The Virgin Mary Church was built on an east-west oriented rectangular and sloping land, with a single nave. To the west of the church is the Atrium. The atrium section has been largely destroyed, and it is not known where the entrance came from. Based on the foundation traces that have survived to the present day, it is seen that this section has a rectangular plan. The church is located just east of the Atrium. The narthex of the church is in the west. The naos area has a rectangular plan. There are two niches, one with a square plan and one with a round arch, in the north of the naos area.

There are 3 round arched niches on the south wall of the naos. There is also a crenellated window opening on the east wall of the naos. There are cross motifs made with scraping technique on the walls and facades of the naos. The upper cover of the church in the cradle-vaulted area has largely collapsed. The plasters plastered with cas inside the naos area have also been poured to a large extent. Cut stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used in the construction of the church. It was found in the tombs made of stones in the region around the church, which was exposed to natural and human destruction.
